Events and Farmer's Markets:
May through October- Farmer's Markets in Calais & Eastport, ME.
Ruth has started blogging on Hub Pages. Here is the link to them:
The farm menagerie is now split up. In Maine, Amanda has chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, cows, horses, cats & dogs. In Vermont we have cows, cats & dogs.
Our farm(s) produce cow's milk, eggs, meat & vegetables for the family. We make cheese and yogurt from the milk. We make jams, jellies, fruit butters, pickles, relishes and herb/spice blends. Amanda and Ruth render down the animal fat from the pigs into lard and from the cows into tallow, which we use for soap making.
Amanda does sell piglets.
Please contact us if you are interested in finding out what items we have for purchase.
The Savage Forest Farm is where we mill the lumber used in creating a number of our product items made of wood. Currently, we are milling just at the Wardsboro, VT location.
We also custom mill lumber which our clients have used for fireplace mantles, shelving, entry area benches and seating, flooring, etc.
Feel free to contact us if you would like to have lumber milled for you. If you have lumber on your own property, we can cut and mill it there as our sawmill is portable.
We also sell the other products we make at a few farmer markets in both Maine and Vermont.
HOME MADE SOAP - lard, tallow & soy oil based cold processed soap.
